VIDEO EDITING:
for our final editing part we used the app known as “capcut” because it is very easily accessable and very easy to use I've been using capcut for 5 years now so I'm aware with all of its options. We edited this project on a laptop we had to download capcut additionaly because it was an office laptop even tho editing on phone is much easier than a laptop howev
er laptop has more options than a phone does. On laptop we have an option of colour grading to a great extent.
firstly, we had to to transfer all of t
he media to the laptop. Shanzay had done
some
Of the transferring from home but someleft therefore we had to download most of the media using the school’s snail wifi. after completing media downloads I attached all of the media first, using the printed script it helped a lot and made the work even faster. Using the script I managed to put together all of the clips and then edited/cropped/synced. On first day of the editing we were left with so much of work due to the slowest wifi so I asked Shanzay to download all of the media completely next day we edited all of the clips by shortening and syncing. Shanzay really wanted to start off the music video just like the Britney Spear’s song “baby one more time” one therefore we had to add clips with classroom ambient sounds.
after tons of harddwork and gaining back pain due to uncomfortable sitting area in common rooom we finally completed attaching the video together after completing the hardest part we finally came to the fun part of the editing, transition, colourgrading and the REAl editing. obviously we added the song's audio as our first step because without that it wouldve been even more hectic after all of the clips part i turnt to sound editing.
my personal fav edited is this one because i had iagined this transition in my mind whie creating the storyboard and i knew i had to it bring to life. first shanzay did try to complete the project from home as we were left with little or n o time due to our music video premeir therefore we had to be as fast as we could. when i saw the final video it didnt satisfy my heart i knew somrthing was left therefore i went back and fourth to find out the missing spot and then i came to this part in wwhich character is moved from hallway towards the ground i realised i forgot to edit the main part then i added some transistions and merged it perfectly to give it the illusion of perfection and finally it was "the cherry on top"
>school part editing: for this part we had to match the clips with the ambient sounds and the lyrics of the video in this part we had to crop and add the clips alot one of our clip was accidently shot in HDR, which caused us many problems, shznay's laptop wasnt picking up the clip which caused it to dally, also that was the only scene that we shot once so we had to comeup with and idea so i screenrecorded the original video and then added it to the final eiditing process, it didnt reduce the quality or anything im glad everything was done perfectly
> flashback editing: this was the far most hardest part of the editing because we had to cut out 0.2seconds part and merge them together with keeping sync in mind. this part took us like 2 weeks due to fussy school timings and exaustion. we gave this part a dreamy look to make it appear llike a dream by inceasng brightness and saturation.
+ the additonal shoot: we also had to add the additonal shoot scenes from mega zone arcade, this really did made me givup i was so done with this part because honestly as much as i like editing i hated this flashback part, everyday at school i tried to finish it off but it was so stubborn anyways we finally ended this headache of flashback part and relaxed our minds.
>fight scene editing: this part wasnt that hard to edit because i only had to attach 3 clips in sync and them matched it to the lyrics but slowing down the video. for the colour gradient. shanzay reduced the brightness dulling it out to make it seem like a nightmare dream which is also shown like a flashback but in our character's mind.
> Outro editing: finally the last part, I still remember how Shanzay and I were so happy that our project's editing was finally coming to an end we still had 4 days till the due date. Anyways, the character is walking out of the video for this part we didn't have to add many transitions or anything a flack fade-out was added and then we added the details of the credits and that was it.
SOUND EDITING:
After merging all and of the clips according to the script next step was to add the background sounds. For the first shot we needed background sounds of students conversing so shanzay had already found some BG sounds from youtube however those sounds weren't matching so after plenties of searches I got an ideal idea. We were sitting in our common room which is always loud and noisy so I told shanzay to take out her phone I grabbed her phone and opened sound recorder and recorded natural sounds of friends chattering/laughing. The first recording was rejected because one of our classmate who started making odd sounds in between so we had to re-record another sound. Second recording was the recording that we chose to put into our final music video editing.
Next steps was to add a bell ringing shanzay had found that sound again from youtube we added that sound and made it appear more natural by lowering its volume.
After that, we had to add the song's final audio because the earlier on's quality wasnt as good as we wanted it to be so we found the original song “romantic homicide” by d4VD on which we had made the story and done all the hard work. We tried downloading an mp3 form of that song however we were unsuccessful after some surfing we somehow had found the mp4 version and added it.
eventually our editing was concluded in that LOUD STRESSFUL common room with marinated incense and too much yapping of our fellow classmates.
